HVAC EMERGENCIES - WHAT WE DO & HOW WE CAN HELP

In the dead of winter or the heat of the summer, the last thing you want is for your heating or cooling to go out in your Cleveland home. In some situations,

it’s more than just a nuisance- it’s a real emergency! It’s in moments when A/C repair or furnace repair is needed that Budget Ohio is ready to come to your aid. In this article, we’ll discuss some of the common HVAC emergencies and how Budget can help.

COMMON HVAC EMERGENCIES

  1. Electrical problems. If your HVAC system shuts down and will not run, it’s possible that there is an interruption somewhere in your electrical system. The first thing to check is the breaker, as repairing a blown fuse is a simple, quick fix. If it isn’t that, then a closer look is required by a professional. Signs to look out for include: a burning smell; system will not turn on; or system will not turn off.

  2. Gas leak. This can be the most dangerous heating problem to have. If your heat runs on natural gas, a leak is a real possibility. Leaks are usually caused by a crack or break in the gas line. Gas leaks should always be taken seriously and addressed immediately. Signs to look out for include: the smell of gas or the smell of rotting egg.

  3. Refrigerant leak. Refrigerants are used to absorb heat, and cool down the air. A leak would let out the refrigerant, causing a two fold problem. Your AC system could work so hard to compensate for the loss that it burns out, or the leaked refrigerant could cause ice to form on lines and coils. Signs to look out for include: hissing refrigerant lines; ice buildup on lines; air that isn’t as cool as it should be; or an overrun system.

  4. Clogged lines. AC units have drain lines that can become clogged or blocked. This means water can back up into your HVAC system, causing serious water damage to your unit and your home. Signs to look out for include: water leaking from an indoor unit; humidity in air; or rust/mold near the unit.
